Xylitol Can Be Deadly To Your Dog....
The popular artificial sweetener, Xylitol, can be deadly to your dog or ferret.  Xylitol is also used as an anit-cavity agent and can be commonly found in chewing gum, breath mints, mouthwash, candies, toothpaste, tooth whiteners, and chewable vitamins. According to a bulletin issued by the Food and Drug Administration, on February 18, 2011, the accidental consumption of Xylitol by a dog can cause a sudden and life-threatening drop in blood sugar (hypoglycemia), seizures and liver failure.
Here are a few of the more popular brands that contain Xylitol:  IceBreakers, Orbit, Trident, Xylimax, TicTacs, Zylishield, Nicorette gum, Crest Whitestrips, Jell-O Sugar Free Pudding.  It is advised that you check all labels before bringing products into your pets environment. Although we know you would never give any of these products to your pets, please be careful where you leave them in your home or when your pet is home unattended.
